Navigating insurance coverage for mental health counseling can feel like a maze, but we're here to simplify it for you.
Many insurance plans offer coverage for mental health services, including counseling. By checking your policy, you can determine your benefits, copays, and any out-of-pocket expenses.
The best way to do this is to call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and ask them what your coverage is for outpatient counseling services. They will likely tell you one of these options:
You are fully covered and have a X dollar copay for each session (or sometimes even a zero dollar copay). Copays can range from $10-80 depending on the plan, but the average is usually $25.
You have to meet your X deductible and then a portion (usually 80-100%) of the services fee will be covered and you would be responsible for the remainder (this is called coinsurance). Deductibles have a wide range from approximately $500-10,000 so it is important to be informed about your plan.

Our practice partners with a reputable billing and credentialing company, Headway, to support with insurance verification and billing processes. Headway offers a helpful tool to aid in verifying insurance coverage for mental health counseling services (this does not include Caresource or Medical Mutual). $140 for 1 hour individual intake appointment / $120 for 1 hour individual counseling follow up appointment

We are able to provide superbill for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. You would need to call your insurance company to verify if you have any out of network coverage.

We offer limited sliding scale spots when able to ($80/session).

We utilize Headway for all things billing. After you set up your initial consult with a mental health therapist and decide to move forward with a session, the therapist will then send you an email to create your Headway account. Once you create the account, you will need to upload payment information (debit/credit). At the end of each session, it will automatically charge your copay/amount responsible.
