A Safe Place to Heal, Grow, and Move Forward
Meet Marrissa!
Licensed Social Worker
Seeking support can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to navigate life's challenges alone. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where you can show up exactly as you are—without judgment, pressure, or the expectation of having everything figured out.
I have experience working with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship difficulties, self-esteem concerns, and substance use challenges. I am passionate about helping individuals better understand themselves, heal from past experiences, strengthen their relationships, and develop the confidence to move toward the life they want to create.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and person-centered. I believe that meaningful change happens when clients feel both supported and empowered. While I bring clinical knowledge and guidance to the therapeutic process, I know you're the expert on your own life. You have years of experience being you; I just get the privilege of helping you sort through the messy, confusing, and sometimes frustrating parts. Together, we'll build insight, strengthen coping skills, and work toward goals that feel meaningful and true to who you are.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, flexible, and tailored to your unique needs and goals. I utilize evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness-based interventions such as grounding techniques, guided visualization, and breathwork.
I believe healing is not one-size-fits-all, so I also enjoy incorporating creative and holistic approaches when appropriate, including therapeutic journaling, expressive activities, aromatherapy, and nervous system regulation techniques. My goal is to create a therapeutic experience that feels both meaningful and practical while helping clients build self-awareness, strengthen coping skills, process difficult experiences, and create lasting change.
Sometimes we borrow hope from others until we're ready to carry it ourselves. When life's challenges make it difficult to see your own strength, therapy can offer a space to slow down, gain perspective, and reconnect with the strengths that have always been within you—even if they've felt out of reach for a while.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy watching movies, listening to music (especially Elvis Presley), and spending time with my friends and family!
